The 35-year-old Rymashevski is the candidate and a co-chairman of the Belarusian Christian Democracy party.
After graduating from Belarusian National Technical University, Rymashevski went into private business. He became politically active in 1996 when he joined the Coordinating Council of the Belarusian Union of Young Politicians. For two years he was also a member of the presidium of the Belarusian national council for youth and children’s civic organizations, Rada. A member of his campaign team, Pavel Sieviaryniets, represented him at the registration ceremony for presidential candidates. Sieviaryniets is held in high esteem by regime opponents for his participation in anti-government demonstrations, activity that landed him in prison.
